I'm bored
I just spent two hours on Instagram liking memes and answering the stupidest riddles - I have officially reached the peak of boredom.
This COVID-19 lockdown has made me realize that I've taken a lot of things for granted- food, friends, shopkeepers, my favorite food, my mother's garden (I never really liked the garden until it became the only outdoors I've been to in days). Normally I hate to go out it's like you have to dress up, go out, meet people....ugh. Now I look out of the window and long to go out and look at people other than my family members
In the past before the coronavirus became the talk of the town my mom would have to bribe me to go buy anything from the shop down the street. Now I'll walk, run, skip and jump all the way to the grocery store a mile away.....if I had the chance.
I always wished and prayed for a day when I wouldn't have to go to school, wouldn't have to worry about studies just sit at home and relax.....now that I have the chance... it's boring. My phone -the one thing guaranteed to keep me entertained at all times-has let me down. No tv show can keep me entertained for more than 2 hours cause like I've mentioned before I've got a small attention span.
Instagram is flooded with bored people. People are coming up with challenges and celebrities are giving out their numbers cause they want " to connect with their fans "(even famous people get bored ). I've spent hours scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest trying to cure my boredom is it working?.....no it's not.
Lockdown can either make a family or break a family - you can either spend time with your family and realize they are just as interesting as you are or you may get so fed up with them that you never wanna see their faces again, differs from family to family.
Quarantine has given me time to practice some of my favorite hobbies...overthinking. I spent the last half an hour thinking about that one time in 2009 when I caught a random lady's hand and called her mama (not my fault btw). I wonder if she still remembers me.
Even though we all are bored and have nothing to do the stay-home policy has some major advantages of me at least:
No going out means no pollution which means I can finally try to maintain skincare routines
I can practice my hobbies (if I have any) or discover new ones
I can be safe at home and not be a coronavirus carrier
I can learn to cook or procrastinate about cooking until the quarantine is over (that's been working out great for me)
The announcement of the 21-day lockdown had three reactions
1) the introverts finally got what they wanted- no interaction with people.
2) the extroverts had a mini heart-attack until they realized they can still face time with their friends.
3)the parents went in full panic mode because of food shortage.
By the end of this, the introverts won't be introverts anymore, the extroverts might turn to all-time introverts (quarantine can change people), parents will finally admit that they are fed up of their children and kids will never spend their evenings at home again but most importantly and most probably everyone will be safe, that is if we follow the instructions and stay home. Being quarantined may be the most boring 21 days of your life but at least you'll be alive at the end of it And you can also be known as the people who survived " the attack of corona " or "the virus that quarantined the world" or "the great toilet paper shortage" (whatever future textbooks want to call it.)
