TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE

For those wearing glasses: Please take a moment to clean your lenses before proceeding with this post. For those lucky enough not to wear glasses well, all I can say is I'm jealous!

When I was younger,  I was really fascinated by the aspect of wearing  glasses. One, because I thought it made people look smart and two because I really wanted to own one of those fancy frames.

This resulted in me pestering my friends to let me try their glasses, and  each time I did I could tell by their facial expression that they wanted to shoot me in the head.
Now I know why. As a not so proud owner of my own pair of spectacles, I can relate to their frustration with non bespectacled people laying their big greasy thumbs on the lens and then having to deal with their nose sweat after they  'try' it....ew!

And while I would like to thank those friends who were gracious enough to give in to my pleadings, it's a big "Dont even ask" to anyone planning on asking to try my glasses on in the future.

Now wearing glasses has many advantages. First and most obvious being you can see and walk without bumping into stuff. But then there are other less obvious advantages. Like   you could  watch sad movies and cry all night yet no one will know cause your glasses will do a pretty decent job of hiding your dark circles and puffy eyes  but that also means no one's going to notice your eye make up and all the time you spent trying to learn that perfect smokey eye look is going to be in vain!

No one recognises your normal face anymore.
People get so used to seeing you with glasses, they don't recognise you without them anymore. They will walk right past you cause they are busy searching for their 'chashmish' friend. The upside is you can conveniently avoid any annoying classmate or friend you may possibly run into.

Headphones and 3-D glasses
If you're wondering how glasses affect your ability to wear headphones you obviously don't have glasses. The pain behind your ears after you take off your headphones is horrible  and the struggle of wearing  3-D glasses on top of spectacles is like trying to juggle- the whole theater stares at you while you scream in frustration trying to balance two pairs of glasses.

All forms of water are troublesome
Whether it's steam, sweat or rain, all forms of water are troublesome.
Adjusting your glasses everytime they slip down your nose which is now a sweat slide is not fun.
When it comes to rain it dosesn't matter if you wear glasses or not-you can't see. Your vision is going to be blurry both ways.
Drinking hot beverages and watching the steam take over your glasses is fun at first but it gets annoying after a few drinks. Now this can be avoided in two ways
1)stop drinking hot beverages
2)enjoy your coffee with a blurry vision. Just don't drop it on yourself

If you think people are uncooperative, get a pair of glasses
The joy of sleeping on your side and reading or watching tv is snatched away from you as soon as you lay your eyes on those glasses. If you're lucky you can find that perfect position that lets you sleep on your side without your glasses moving away from your eyes   ........ But that's a big IF.

People assume you're blind
Seeing four fingers instead of two happens when you're drunk not when you don't have your glasses on , when you take away someone's glasses and hold up two fingers in front of them -they still see two!!! It's just that your thin bony fingers now look like fat blurry fingers.

The fright of being punched in the face
You're right! Everyone has the fright of being punched in the face but imagine someone giving you a black eye when you have your glasses on.....ugghh...no thank you. The danger of the lens breaking into your eye and the thought of your frame pressing through the bridge of your nose more then it already does is not something you want to imagine.

Fashion problems
Have you ever spent hours in an optical shop trying to find the perfect frame- the one that suits your face and goes with every outfit you wear. It's like choosing the perfect lipstick or  the perfect pair of sneakers.

Eye tests
You know what is worse then school exams? Eye exams. Why you ask? Well, because when you're given a multiple choice for an exam there is a wrong and right answer that decides your fate. During an eye test there is no right or wrong answer you can either see clearly through lens one or lens two and whichever lens you choose, under the pressure is going to be stuck with you for a long time.

Say what you want, at the end of the day your glasses are truly the only ones that stay with you through thick and thin. They hide your tears, protect your eyes from those pesky insects that fly into the eyes and most importantly let you see the world with mind blowing clarity (which let's face it, is it's main job!)
